The National Writers Union is more than just another writers’ organization.

The National Writers Union is more than just another writers’ organization. It is the only labor union that represents freelance writers working in all genres, formats, and mediums.

The National Writers Union defends its members and all writers by fighting to win rights, fair compensation, and just plain dignity…and we succeed!

The NWU has a different membership fee structure in that they charge a recurring monthly fee based on your annual writing income.

IFPO has been around for about 28 years according to them.

IFPO has been around for about 28 years according to them. While we can not verify the exact duration, our research shows this claim to most likely be true. While their website is a bit dated, you should be able to find the information you are looking for which includes information on their different programs and membership packages.

One of their programs is the US Press Corps. While they do have somewhat of a confusing system of different names and programs, they have been around for long enough to have proven themselves a trustworthy organization.

The National Press Photographers Association is dedicated to the advancement of visual journalism – its creation, practice, training, editing and distribution – in all news media and works to promote its role as a vital public service.

The NPPA vigorously promotes freedom of the press in all its forms. We work tirelessly advocating to protect the First Amendment, as well as visual journalists' rights to earn a living from their work. Professional members turn to the Advocacy committee for support and advice when problems arise.

You may find this organization geared more towards larger publications and less to do with individuals (freelance or professional).

NPPA has a variety of membership types
